The Easy Way to do "Day to Night"

"Day to Night"... a phrase that is often said when it comes to fashion. Because let's face it, changing in a bathroom stall or car after work/school before heading out for the night is never the most enjoyable thing.

Usually I have the chance to stop at home before going out, but this past week I didn't have that opportunity when my friend (and fellow blogger Genie Patra of Gallivanting Bean) was going to pick me up from school at FIDM and take us to The REEF in Downtown LA for the first night of Style Fashion Week LA.

When trying to decide on my outfit for the event, I came across my black tailored romper from Banana Republic. I immediately thought "this would be perfect to wear to school and then just throw on heels for the show." Which was great because it was one less outfit I had to plan and 100x more convenience considering I would have no downtown between things. I think a dressier romper is a great way to go when transitioning from day to night--it's easy and it makes sense.

Now, on to the part about what accessories can transition this look... because let's face it, no one wants to walk from class to class in heels or look frumpy on the red carpet in sandals. I dressed down the romper with black/grey/white snake print lace up JustFab gladiator sandals and just my simple daily jewelry for school. Then for the show, I swapped them out for strappy black Dolce Vita heels, a wide belt with gold chain detail, and an oversize zip pouch clutch from Proper & Prim boutique. The romper comes with its own waist tie, but the change to the belt dressed it up and made it more trendy. It was so easy and I didn't feel underdressed or not put together at all, that way I could feel confident and comfortable the rest of the night.
